COST OF LEARNING TO FLY

This is my expense report for the 42 weeks I was in training. I was training in an 1963 172 Cessna, so rental was lower than newer models. Your expenses are sure to vary, but this should give you an idea of what it could cost you. The longer you drag out your training, the more it will cost (constantly taking refresher flights). Also of note, the Airplane Rental rows were purchased as Blocks of Time, so they do not represent how many hours I flew that month. You can easily cut the cost of books/materials in half here, as I purchased the Sportys DVD set ($220?) and did not think it was necessary.
